Thanksgiving: A Time with Family and Friends
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It doesn’t require a trip to the mall, and there is no gift wrapping involved. Our family usually gathers at my brother’s home. He is a master at holiday decoration. Here is a photo of last year’s table.
I always make my Mom’s cranberry sauce. I don’t know where the recipe came from. All I know is that everyone loves it…and it’s very easy to prepare. Enjoy. Happy Thanksgiving!
Mom’s Cranberry Orange Sauce
1 cup water 2 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 cup sugar 2 tsp. grated orange rind
2 cups fresh cranberries 1/2 cup orange sections
1/4 cup orange juice (or 1 can mandarin oranges)
Combine water and sugar and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Add cranberries and cook until they pop, about 5 minutes.
Combine orange juice and cornstarch. Stir until smooth. Add to cranberries. Cook until clear and thickened. Stir in orange rind and sections. Serve with turkey, duck, or chicken.
Judy, the writing is luscious, the table setting is gorgeous, and the recipe sounds yummy. What an interesting website. Good luck!
I actually made this recipe for Thanksgiving and it turned out to be the most delicious Cranberry/Orange sauce I’ve ever tasted !!
